Heathrow Airport

Heathrow by Magnus Brath

The Heathrow Airport is the largest airport of all used by travelers to reach the city of London. In addition, it is the airport with the largest number of connections in the United Kingdom, which is why millions of travelers use it every year.

Heathrow is located in the Hillingdon district, just west of London, about 24 kilometers away. The great advantage of this airport is that it is the only airport that is connected to the city of London through the metro line, specifically, the Piccadilly line.

To date, the airport is in full expansion phase to add the new Terminal 5 to the rest of the facilities.

How to get to London from Heathrow

Metro line Piccadilly

The cheapest transport to get from Heathrow Airport to London is the subway. For about 5 pounds you can reach the center in less than 50 minutes.

You will have the metro available from 5 in the morning until 11.30 in the evening.

Heathrow Express

It is the fastest way to get to central London. It is a train whose route does not extend more than 20 minutes and whose destination is Paddington station.

Trains run every 10-15 minutes, starting at 5am in the morning and ending at 11.30pm at night.

Of course, so fast is not cheap and that's why the one-way prices are 21.50 pounds. However, if you choose the option to buy a return ticket you can get it for 35 pounds.

Heathrow Connect

It is another train that departs from Heathrow airport to London. It is less fast than the previous one, given that the journey goes to 35 minutes due to make a greater number of stops before arriving in Paddington.

The price of the ticket depends on your destination station but it moves in a range of 6-10 pounds, which goes up to 12-20 pounds in the case of buying a round trip ticket.

Taxis

Taxis are the current option in all London airports but they are the most expensive means of transport. Specifically, from Heathrow Airport to central London the price will vary between 50 and 80 pounds.

Transfer Services

They are a very similar option to the taxi with the difference that in this case a driver will be waiting for you with a sign at the airport's passenger exit door. Also, they are somewhat cheaper than taxis.

These last two means of transport used to travel from Heathrow airport to central London are the most recommended for people with lots of luggage or for families or groups of travelers, just for the sake of being more comfortable.
